Dr Harvey Cohen has been a dedicated member of Hertsmere Borough Council since 2006, proudly representing the Elstree ward. A lifelong Conservative, he is committed to serving local residents with integrity, transparency, and a strong focus on protecting the character and quality of life across Hertsmere.
Harvey has held a number of senior positions within the Council, including Cabinet Member for Planning and Localism and Chair of the Policy Review Committee. He also serves as Hertsmere’s Member Champion for Football, promoting the growth of youth, women’s, and men’s football and supporting community sports initiatives.
A passionate advocate for responsible development, Harvey has worked tirelessly to safeguard the Green Belt, ensure that new housing is sustainable, and maintain the distinctive identity of local neighbourhoods. He believes in open dialogue with residents and values community engagement as the foundation of good local government.
Beyond his council duties, Harvey plays an active role in the local Conservative Association and has served in various leadership roles within the party. His long-standing commitment to the area reflects a genuine dedication to improving services, protecting the environment, and representing residents’ voices at every level.
When not engaged in council business, Harvey enjoys supporting community projects, local events, and initiatives that strengthen civic pride and wellbeing across Hertsmere.
