Hertsmere Conservative Association is pleased to announce that Cllr Lynette Sullivan has become the new Leader of the Borough Council Group.
Lynette who is widely known for her community work in Potters Bar, became a Councillor in 2023.
Lynette takes over the role of Conservative Group Leader from Cllr Morris Bright MBE, who stepped back from the role after 18 years at the helm.
Lynette said: “I am honoured and grateful to my Conservative colleagues for placing their trust in me to lead our Group. I would like to thank my fellow candidates for standing and offering their vision, and express my sincere appreciation to Morris for his leadership and the inspiration he has given me to step forward at this pivotal time. As Leader, I will bring a fresh, community-focused approach — leading with respect, open communication, and a clear focus on putting Hertsmere residents first.
This is my style of leadership for the Hertsmere Conservatives: modern, inclusive, collaborative, and firmly rooted in delivering strong Conservative values through real action.”
Morris said: “I am delighted that Lynette Sullivan has become the new group leader of Hertsmere's Conservative councillors. She only joined the council two years ago, and in that short time, her passion for public service and her record of working with our local communities has shone through. She is exactly the person we need to lead the Conservatives locally, and I look forward to working with her in her new role as Leader of the Opposition. With her ability, warmth of character, and commitment to inclusive leadership, I am confident that councillors from across the political spectrum will work with her for the benefit of our communities.”
Chairman of the Hertsmere Conservative Association, Cllr Harvey Cohen, said: “This is a momentous time for our local Conservatives who have put their faith in an amazing young political talent.”
Harvey added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank my dear colleague and friend Cllr Morris Bright for his 18-year service as Group leader, including 16 years as Leader of Hertsmere Borough Council. I know that with Lynette Sullivan as his successor, Hertsmere will move from strength to strength.”
